Strong Women in a Me-Centered World
A Titus 2 Devotional for Christian Women
“...teach the older women to live in a way that honors God... Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and their children...” — Titus 2:3–4
We live in a culture that constantly tells us to look inward, protect ourselves, demand our rights, chase our happiness, and make life about us. And when life gets hard, the message is often, “You’re a victim. You deserve better. Put yourself first.”
But Titus 2 gives Christian women a radically different picture.
Paul calls women to become women of character, self-control, love, faithfulness, goodness, and wisdom—women who don't simply consume wisdom but pass it on. Older women are called to teach younger women, and younger women are called to receive that wisdom and live it out.
That doesn't mean Christian women don't experience real hurt, injustice, disappointment, exhaustion, or seasons of suffering. We absolutely do. But our circumstances don't have to become our identity. We don't have to build our lives around what happened to us. Through Christ, we can choose what we will become because of Him.
Titus 2 challenges us to move from “What about me?” to “Lord, how can You use me?”
A strong Christian woman isn't strong because her life has been easy. She's strong because she has learned to surrender herself to Christ, grow in wisdom, love those God has entrusted to her, and use what she's learned to strengthen the women coming behind her.
And perhaps that's one of the greatest needs of women today: women who are willing to stop competing with one another and start discipling one another.
We need grandmothers who pray.
Mothers who lead.
Women who speak truth with grace.
Younger women who are humble enough to learn.
And all of us willing to become the kind of woman who leaves a legacy—not of perfection, but of faithfulness.
Ask Yourself Today
Am I allowing the world to teach me to center my life around me—or am I allowing Christ to transform me into a woman who can pour into others?
Lord, make me a Titus 2 woman. Make me strong in faith, rich in wisdom, generous with encouragement, faithful in my calling, and willing to use my life to strengthen the women coming behind me. Amen.
